What is on a Ukiah sandwich?
I moved on long ago. It has been 15 years since I called Ukiah home. I was 18 then. So, I'm coming up on a point in life when I'll have lived away from Ukiah longer than I lived there. That gives me three more years or so to figure it all out.
Which brings me to this. My virtual collection of Ukiah observence from a safe distance. You find out weird things about your 'home' when you get away from it. Sometimes, the more distance, the more you learn.
Today, we learn that Ukiah has different meaning to different people. In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania it conjures up some sort of sense of exotica and wonder -- the kind that inspires restaurant owners in the naming of restaurants and sandwiches, apparently.

Definitely ask for the condiments tray! This features several of the homemade catsups, mayos and mustards that the chef creates and changes daily. My favorite was an apple horseradish and Robin's was an asian mayo. Also high on our list was a cumin chipotle catsup. These found their way onto the lovely hand-cut fries, Robin's Ukiah sandwich and my Beef Chimichanga.
